About

Maria Slobodchikova is a dispute resolution lawyer at Freshfields New York and represents clients in complex commercial disputes.

Maria assists clients in a broad array of contexts, including jury trials, proceedings pending before federal and state trial and appellate courts, as well as international and domestic arbitral tribunals. She has worked in all stages of litigation, from initial investigations to trial, and has handled matters involving a wide-range of substantive legal areas including business torts, contract, intellectual property, licensing and earnouts, mergers and acquisitions, insurance, securities, shareholder fiduciary-duty litigation, structured finance, and the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Before joining Freshfields, she was an associate in the dispute resolution practice of a prominent international law firm’s New York office. While in law school, Maria served as a judicial extern for the Honorable William G. Young of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

  • A major financial institution in a dispute against the US Department of Justice alleging misrepresentations in disclosures relating to financial instruments backed by residential subprime mortgages.*
